When you’re your own boss, a lot of things can easily get in the way of your productivity. There’s no one else around to tell you what to do. There’s no one to watch the clock or ask you to finish something by Friday.
When you set your own deadlines, no one knows that you haven’t done that thing you said you wanted to do. No one but you. And because of that, it can be easy to fall behind.
You plod along, slowly getting through your to do list. But just as you’re starting to get focused, something else creeps up and pulls you off track.
To help you feel like you’re making progress, you tackle the easy things first and put off the harder things until another day.
I’m even willing to bet that day after day after day you’re creating a list of unstarted tasks from the day before.
